Lighter Than Air

"Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, Whose sin is covered. Blessed is the man to whom the Lord does not impute iniquity, And in whose spirit there is no deceit."
Psalm 32:1-2 NKJV

Do you need to feel lighter? If so, then this is such a great passage to think on! In it, David says blessed (happy) are we whose transgressions (guilt, rebellion) is forgiven (which means lifted, taken, carry). Sin is heavy… it weighs on our hearts. But Jesus, in His great mercy, has lifted that weight from us, freeing us. The Scripture says blessed (happy) is the man to whom the Lord does not imute iniquity (whose sin the Lord does NOT count against him).

Friend, you can stop beating yourself. The truth is we are all in the same boat. We ALL fall short, we ALL sin, and that is why we ALL need Jesus. To beat yourself up over the transgressions Jesus has already paid for, is to rob yourself of the blessing of being forgiven. The idea is to learn. It’s to be so thankful that we surrender ourselves to Him daily, minute by minute. And when we do mess up… when we lose our temper, judge, act unloving, are tempted to cut that guy off on the freeway… whatever it is… we are honest with ourselves, run to Him, acknowledge our sin, repent, and leave it with Him. No amount of beating yourself up will ever lead to freedom or forgiveness. It will only weigh you down. I am so incredibly thankful for Jesus and His willingness to go to the Cross and pay the price for my sins. Today I choose to think on the freedom only He can give. I choose to let go of my past mistakes and live each moment depending on and trusting in Him.

Lord may we always be in awe of your sacrifice for our freedom. May we relish in the gift of being a new creation in you. Thank you for your Word that reminds me daily of all we have been given. Your work on our behalf never stops. May we trust in your work today, let go of what might hinder us, and walk confidently forward in obedience to you. You are a good, good Father.

In Jesus Name – Amen – Hugs cj
